Marta Guerra Belo (b. 1981) lives and works in Lisbon.
She holds a master’s in graphic design from the School of Arts and Design – Caldas da Rainha and a PhD in Design from the University of Lisbon, completed as a doctoral fellow of the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT). She works independently across editorial design, visual identity, web and digital projects, collaborating with artists, cultural institutions, schools and emerging brands. Her practice also extends into the fields of visual research, artists’ books and publishing. As founder and editor of A Ground for, a small publishing imprint dedicated to experimental, author-driven and collaborative editions, she consistently explores the speculative possibilities of the image detached from its original frame. She teaches in the BA and MA programmes in Graphic Design at Lusófona University, where she also coordinates the art and design research programme PENSÃO – Artistic Residencies at DELLI. Her practice includes Figura C, an installation created with designer Miguel Vieira Baptista, presented at the Anozero’21–22 Biennial of Contemporary Art, and 12 Varetas, shown in the exhibition Ligações at Porto Design Biennale 2023. She collaborates regularly on editorial and research projects, conferences and workshops.
