João Sousa Cardoso is an artist, writer and university professor. He has a PhD in Social Sciences from the University of Paris Descartes (Sorbonne). He is an associate member of the Centre de Recherches Interdisciplinaires sur le Monde Lusophone at the University of Paris Nanterre. He staged Sequências Narrativas Completas, by Álvaro Lapa, which premiered at the Teatro Nacional D. Maria II in 2019. He published the books TEATRO EXPANDIDO! (2016), Sequências Narrativas Completas and A Espanha das Espanhas, both in 2020. In 2022, he premiered A Ronda da Noite by Agustina Bessa-Luís at the Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian. He regularly writes essays for the magazines Contemporânea, Electra, Granta and the newspaper Público. He teaches at the Lusófona University.
